I can't get over how many of these bridges that you have near you! Do you know how many there are in total and how many you have photographed? Do you have a favorite?

I've really enjoyed this site. Looked at all the photos. We have no covered bridges in northern IL, so they seem very unique and picturesque to me.

Ann, if you haven't visited Rose at Pics & Pieces , she posts some of the Indiana covered bridges. Her link is on my sidebar. I don't think I got it to load here.

Awesome as usual!

Hi I have been browsing through your past posts and have really enjoyed the covered bridges. It is incredible that they have lasted so long and are still in use

"Louis" thanks you for your recent visits!

"Louis" is buried deeper than his cowbell in a work project for the next several weeks. He will stop and visit, but may not stay long enough to 'sign the guest registry'.

I tried some bridge pictures this weekend. Nothing close to as good as yours but I did have fun!

They do set the mood don't they. But looking at snow in July is a special treat. :)

i just love covered bridges...thankyou for showing us...

i was delighted to find some in vermont when i went there a couple of years ago...had no idea how many there were...of course being an uneducated traveller from australia...i only heard of them when I read "bridges of madison county"

;-)

i am visiting my daughter in new york with tiny new baby at the moment as you might know..getting a sore back and shoulder from all the cuddling of him!! so sorry about lack of punctuation etc...

it has been so lovely to discover you and your blog..and of course it seems as if you are an Ann too!

Annie

Oh, this is so lovely. I'm going to have to thoroughly and lovingly explore this whole blog. The subject matter is right up there with the romance of lighthouses.

I love covered bridges , we lived in Montreal for some time and my parents in law had a cottage in Vermont. We lived near Dartmouth for a while too, so covered bridges are deart to my heart.
Di'n't make it to New Brunswick though so these fill quite a gap for me. Thanks.

A most interesting theme indeed. I first learnt of covered bridges when reading Bridges of Madison County

I didn't know there were so many around. Are new ones still being built. They're wonderful.

I love the header bridge photo...a very nice one! Covered bridges are so fascinating. There is one somewhere not far from us, but it is hard to find. I've been wondering if you had deserted this blog and weren't going to post any more. I was disappointed to not get to the covered bridge fesitval in Indiana this year...we were on our way home from Iowa at that time. Maybe next year! Rose at Pics and Pieces has a bunch of them in her blog...she lives closer than I do.

How cool! I don't think I've ever been through a covered bridge. This is nice and then to come out into that snow. Wow.
